Compatible Card Terminals – Overview

In principle, you can use any card terminal with Belbo. The decisive difference lies in the direct connection: If a terminal is directly connected to Belbo, Belbo automatically transfers the payment amount – manual entry at the terminal is not necessary.

Without direct connection, the payment amount must be entered separately in both the Belbo register and at the card terminal. This double entry is a common source of errors – for example, if an incorrect amount is accidentally entered at the terminal. Direct connection prevents exactly that.

Compatibility by Device

Which terminals can be directly connected depends on whether you operate Belbo on an Android tablet, an iPad, or a computer (Windows/Mac):

ZVT Terminals

ZVT (Zahlungsverkehrsterminal) is the standard protocol for card terminals widely used in Germany and Austria. Most stationary EC terminals from European manufacturers support ZVT and can thus be directly connected to Belbo.

wallee Terminals (Switzerland) – ZVT in Introduction

wallee is a Swiss payment service provider whose terminals are based exclusively on PAX hardware. Wallee is currently expanding ZVT support – connection via the ZVT protocol is available but is still being actively developed. Devices such as the PAX A50 and similar wallee models can already be connected to Belbo now, but are still in the beta phase.

The ZVT connection for wallee terminals is in beta phase. The basic functionality (transfer amount, trigger payment) works, but individual functions may still be limited. If you encounter problems, please contact Belbo Support.

SumUp Solo

The SumUp Solo is the only SumUp model with direct Belbo connection. It is compatible on all platforms – Android tablet, iPad, and computer – and requires neither Belbo Satellite nor a WLAN connection to the terminal. The connection runs via the internet through your SumUp account.

Please note: Only the SumUp Solo can be directly connected. The SumUp Air and SumUp Card Reader do not have the required interface and must be operated manually.
